This is just the first of several readings and promo programs we’ll do into spring 2024, which includes an in-person book launch on September 30th at Clarion Performing Arts Center in San Francisco featuring Molly Fisk, Marisa Lin, Karen Llagas, David S. Maduli, Jeanine Pfeiffer, Jordan Sher, Kim Shuck, and Maw Shein Win, with Aileen Cassinetto & Clara Hsu.
The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy through the U.S. Global Research Program has, for the first time, provided a pathway for artists to participate in the National Climate Assessment, and help visualize the impacts of climate change. Dear Human at the Edge of Time: Poems on Climate Change in the United States is offered as a companion to the congressionally mandated Fifth National Climate Assessment (NCA5), to encourage stories of climate justice and stories of resilience. Edited by Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellows Luisa A. Igloria & Aileen Cassinetto and NCA5 Chapter Lead Dr. Jeremy S. Hoffman, the anthology’s 70+ contributors include Union of Concerned Scientists Director of Strategic Climate Analytics Erika Spanger and U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón, with Foreword by Claire Wahmanholm and Afterword by Dr. Sam Illingworth. The anthology is forthcoming in September when the Fifth National Climate Assessment is also scheduled for release. The anthology is made possible with support from the San Mateo County Office of Arts and Culture, the San Mateo County Arts Commission, and the Academy of American Poets and Mellon Foundation’s poet laureate initiative.
Anthology contributors include Ernesto L. Abeytia, Bradley Allf, Anna Bartel, Kristin Berkey-Abbott, Mary Grace Bertulfo, Amanda M.
