The Halo-Halo Review is pleased to commemorate October as FILIPINO AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH with a unique look at diasporic history through the lens of poets Aileen Cassinetto and Eileen R. Tabios. In this wide-ranging conversation, they parse issues of migration, memory, imagination including mythologizing, Kapwa, and the poetics of language and becoming. Together, they present how Filipino American voices persistently revisit history to articulate new possibilities for the future.
This Halo Halo Review feature also celebrates the release of the poets’ new books:
AN IMMIGRANT’S GUIDE TO NAVIGATING BORDERS AND BODIES OF WATER by Aileen Cassinetto
and
ENGKANTO IN THE DIASPORA by Eileen R. Tabios
As well, this “Lit in 5!” feature is a pulutan for the forthcoming Winter issue of The Halo-Halo Review. We hope you enjoy reading.
