At this year’s San Mateo County Climate Summit organized by Thrive, Nuestra Casa, Rise South City, and Climate Resilient Communities, and co-presented by the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, we are grateful to Thrive Alliance’s Georgia Farooq for generously providing space for our anthology, The Nature of Our Times.
Paloma Press publisher and San Mateo County Poet Laureate Emerita Aileen Cassinetto delivered the land acknowledgment, and following the lunch break, was once again introduced by Community Equity Collaborative‘s Dayna Chung to briefly speak about The Nature of Our Times and share place-based poems exploring the intersections of nature, community, and justice in the county.
Much gratitude to the Build Up San Mateo County‘s Christine Padilla whose thoughtful connection made this possible, and to the San Mateo County Office of Arts and Culture for their support of our anthology.
The theme for this year’s summit is “Sustaining Community Power in Climate Action.” Kudos to Thrive Alliance, Nuestra Casa, Rise South City, and Climate Resilient Communities for showing us how climate leadership is rooted in local wisdom, driven by community, and rising from the ground up.
